The Thunderbird was the brainchild of Sam Greco (to the left) who named it after a motel that he saw while traveling through the state of Nevada. He bought the building from Mildred Sterner (widow to Raymond Sterner) in 1955, expanded expanded it and opened for business in the spring of 1956. His sons Bill and Charlie (to the right) also came aboard at the restaurant's inception. The basics of the current menu was established by Sam. He retired from the business in 1973. Sam Greco

Bill Greco Sr. began the second generation of family ownership of the T-Bird in 1973. Many important store policies were instituted by Bill Sr. during his tenure: pizza became an all-day item on the menu, the delivery service was started and breakfast began being served every morning.      Bill Greco Jr. (first photo) began the third generation of family ownership of the Thunderbird in 1995 when Bill Sr. passed away. Many of the daily specials, coupons and store policies now in use were not only implemented by Bill, but also by brothers Tom and Steve along with long-time employee John Spano. "Its been a real team effort!" says Bill. He began working at the T-Bird part-time after school and started full-time after graduation from high school in 1981.
